                  19.03.2003

The entire world's Jewish community has celebrated the holiday of Purim. Keeping up with its foreign relatives, the Jewish community of the Republic of Bashkortostan also celebrated this holiday commemorating the liberation of the Jews from the tyranny of the Persian minister Oman. The auditorium of the Bashkortostan Academic Theatre of Russian Drama, where the event was held, was full.
All the representatives of the Jewish Diaspora of Ufa were invited. The Chief Rabbi of the Republic Dan Krichevskiy opened the official part of the event. Having delivered the introductory speech, Dan Krichevskiy told the audience about the history and traditions of celebrating Purim, and read "Ester's Roll". The Moscow "Shalom" theatre performed the "Jewish Feast" show. The concert also featured the performance by the 'Freilechs" ensemble.
