War in Iraq

The Russian Jewish Congress (RJC), in its statement, urges the USA to do everything to stop the war possible as soon as possible, and with a minimum loss of human lives. The Russian Jewish Congress thinks that the war in Iraq is a tragedy for all the Middle East people, including the Israelis, who, despite of having no intentions to attack Iraq, are already on the Iraq's military hit list, reads the statement. The RJC has stressed that during the 1991 "Desert Storm" military operation, Iraq had fired missiles at Israel; and it was the first time in history that Israel did not respond to an aggression.
More that a million of our compatriots currently live in Israel, say the authors of the statement. Many of them are Russian citizens. The new war turns them into hostages of America's universal interests.
