Berl Lazar receives the "Linking Thread" marathon special prize.

A solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the intellectual marathon jointly organized by the Federation of the Jewish Communities of Russia and the Kaufmann Foundation was held in the Moscow Jewish community center. More than a thousand children from eighty Jewish schools of Russia had participated in the contest on the history and culture of the Jewish people. Ten winners were awarded diplomas and grants (US$1,000.00) from the Kaufmann charitable foundation. The representatives from the Israeli Embassy in Moscow took part in the ceremony. Attending the ceremony, the Chief Rabbi of Russia Berl Lazar said, "Today, our children are ascending to the highest level of knowledge. When we have the real knowledge, we will be able to change the world for the better and let justice reign".
Lazar was awarded a special prize for his contribution into developing ethnic education and creating a tolerant society in Russia.
