Discussion on the Concept of the national policy took place in the Jewish cultural center in Moscow.

The round table devoted to possible amendments in the currently acting Concept of national policy, authorized on June, 15/1996, took place in the Jewish cultural center in Moscow.
The president of Vaad in Russia and the co-chairman of the Federal Jewish National - Cultural Autonomy (FJNCA) of Russia Mikhail Chlenov opened the session and highlighted two features of the examined text that made it completely indigestible. This was penetrating the Concept fear of possible movement of "national minorities" against the state and, as the result, the common principle of practically all positions of the document "everything for the person but nothing for people". For the first time, by the way, this principle was formulated during the Great French revolution as the result of the discussion on a question of providing equality to Jews.
The next orator, the FJNCA co-chairman A.Osovtsov, has declared that, in his opinion, last thesis was favorable for the country and nations that inhabited it as it tore them off from separatism.
After Osovtsov the floor was taken by the known lawyer, the deputy of the State Duma G.Mirzoev. Mirzoev drew attention of the audience to openly chauvinistic postulates contained in the text of the Concept that described preference of interests of Russians before all others peoples. He has emphasized, that not only Jews face displays of nationalism and chauvinism, but even Russians, moving from the CIS countries for permanent residence with wives or husbands simply meet "opposition" of officials. G.Mirzoev drew special attention to moods of deputies and officials of the Duma. He has specified that during almost four years of his staying in fraction of the Union of Right Forces his colleagues, the members of the most liberal fraction in the Duma, "ignored" the ethnic question. What can be said about representatives of other parties who shocked the world with the statements (similar to Zhirinovsky's statement at the closed Duma session when he told: "If America bombs Iraq, we will also bomb America!")? Views of the government officials seam to be even more dangerous.
