Repatriate from Ukraine sacrificed his life to save those of dozens of children.

                  01.05.2003

The railway station in the town of Kfar-Saba will be given the name of Alexander Kostyk, a security guard, who died in a terrorist attack on April 24. He was killed in a blast at the station were he worked. He was 23, and came to Israel from Ukraine. Sacrificing his own life, Alexander had saved those of dozen of children.
The railway station security guard Alexander Kostyk, a repatriate from Ukraine, having suspected that something was not right, did not let the terrorist enter the station, where there were many people at the rush hour. Then, the suicide bomber detonated the engine right in front of the entrance, killing himself and Alexander.
An Israeli railways official told in an interview to RUJEN that a decision was taken to give the railway station in Kfar-Saba the name of Alexander Kostyk, the security guard killed in the recent terror attack. The minister of transportation of Isreael Avigdor Liebermann supported the idea of immortalizing the memory of Alexander Kostyk. "I knew that guy", he said in an interview to RUJEN, "When serving with the border troops, he escorted me on several occasion during my trips around Judaca and Samaria. He was a real man and a good citizen of the State of Israel".
Alexander Kostyk came to Israel five years ago as a participant of the "Israeli Dream" program, which helps young repatriates settle down in Israel. Alexander's dream was to serve in the Israeli Army, and once in the state, he enlisted in the border troops for three years. Soon, his parents and younger brother moved to Israel, too. His mother and father found a job quickly. Having left the army, Alexander Kostyk found a job as a security guard at the railway station, where he was killed by terrorists.
