American Jewish Committee (AJC) to open office in India.
26.05.2003 During this current year, the American Jewish Committee (AJC) intends to open an office in India. The decision was taken following the invitation of Ariel Sharon to visit New Delhi at the end of the summer.
In addition to that, India has been active in voicing its intentions to improve relation with Israel and the USA: very recently, an Indian politician invited to the annual charitable dinner hosted by the AJC in Washington, D.C. called for the unity of these countries in fighting terrorism.
Relations between New Delhi and Tel Aviv have noticeably improved following Israel's transfer to India of high-tech defense equipment, which also included the Falcon system.
The AJC's leadership draws attention to the fact that India is very active in fighting international terrorism. AJC leader Jason Isaacson announced "The Committee welcomes India's attitude and fully supports it. In what other way, other than opening an office, can we express our support?"
