Russian and East European Jewry Research Center opened in Jerusalem.

                  29.05.2003

A Russian and East European Jewry Research Center has been opened in the Jewish University in Jerusalem.
This new institute is a result of the initiatives and financial support of prominent Russian oil tycoon and the former Head of the Russian Jewish Congress Leonid Nevzilin. Named after its creator, the Center is meant to preserve and research the heritage of East-European Jewry, thus contributing to the professional dialogue between scientists from different regions and countries. According to Leonid Nevzilin, the idea to create a center of this kind came to him after he started researching the history of the European Jewry Catastrophe on his own.
