World Jewish Congress lobbies the Palestinian refugees

                  04.07.2003

The World Jewish Congress (WJC) has sent reports on the problems of Jewish and Palestinian refugees to world leaders. These documents were delivered to the American Congress, the White House, British and European parliaments. One of the documents contains facts on "ethnic purges" and the exile of Iraqi Jews when the Israeli state was created in 1948 and another one accuses the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) of preserving the status of Palestinian refugees and of allowing refugee camps to transform into preparation bases for terrorists. "It is important to establish peace in the Middle East", said Avi Beker, WJC general secretary, emphasizing the necessity to reconsider the activity of UNRWA and to recognize the validity of the claims of the Jews who were compelled to leave the Arabian countries in the 1940
