Jewish community of Krasnodar has elected new leader.
30.07.2003 Yuri Teitelbaum, a noted businessman and public figure within the Jewish community of Krasnodar, was elected leader at a community meeting. The former leader, Yuri Rubinov, was invited to Rostov-na-Donu to take up the post of deputy rabbi. The newly elected leader spoke about the development prospects for the community, and about his meeting with Berl Lazar, chief rabbi of Russia (FJCR), where they discussed plans to buy a building for a new synagogue. Berl Lazar has promised financial assistance. So, today the Jews of Krasnodar are looking for an appropriate building. Yuri Teitelbaum told RUJEN that there are no plans to reform the structure of the community. Krasnodar
