9,200 new repatriates in the first six months of the year, according to the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics
30.07.2003 According to the data published on July 29 by the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics, 9,200 new repatriates have come to Israel during the first six months of 2003, which is 39 percent less than the same period of time in the previous year. In the first six months of 2001, there were 20,500 new repatriates. 5,100 of the 2003 repatriates, or 56 percent of total, came from CIS countries. In 2002, 8,400 of the total number of repatriates from the first six months of the year were from the CIS. Repatriates from Argentina, which totaled 17 percent of the total number of repatriates from the first six months of 2002, decreased. There have been only 500 repatriates from Argentina in the first half of 2003. Also, 1,500 new repatriates from Ethiopia were reported in the first six months of 2003, compared to 1,800 in the first six months of 2002.
