Israeli culture minister to visit Russia.
07.10.2003 Israel and Russia have broad cultural ties that should develop actively, Israeli Minister of Education, Culture and Sport Limor Livnat said in an interview with Itar-Tass on the eve of her visit to Moscow.
Livnat arrives in Russia on Tuesday for a two-day visit at the invitation of Russian Culture Minister Mikhail Shvydkoi.
During the visit that will last until October 9, the Israeli minister will attend the opening of a premiere performance of an Israeli theatre troupe, whose tour of Russia will last for a week.
More than a million Russian-speaking immigrants have come from Russia and other former Soviet republics into Israel over the past 10-12 years. This could not help having an effect on Israeli culture, the minister said.
Israel and Russia have great mutual interest, she noted.
