                  13.06.2014, Ukraine

The National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (NaUKMA) of Ukraine and VAAD Ukraine announce that preliminary applications are being accepted from prospective students of the Jewish Studies program in 2014.

The two-year program includes various courses in histories and additional courses required to do professional work in Jewish studies (particularly, courses in Jewish languages - Hebrew and Yiddish). At graduation, the students receive two diplomas: a Ukrainian state diploma (Master’s in History) and the NaUKMA diploma in English. Entrance exams include Ukrainian, English, and history, and are taken in summer at NaUKMA. Master’s students who are successful in their studies receive a stipend. Non-resident students are provided with housing at NaUKMA dorms. Moreover, the program allows unattached students to attend the Jewish Studies courses and students who wish to enchance their knowledge of Hebrew.

The specialization “Jewish Studies,” a part of the NaUKMA master’s program “History,” is the first such program in Ukraine. It was founded in 2012 by the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” together with the Association of Jewish Communities and Organizations of Ukraine (VAAD Ukraine) to promote the academic study of the Jewish heritage in Ukraine. The program is developing with the support of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.
