The Union of Belarusian Jewish Public Associations and Communities (SBEOOO) held a rally in support of Israel in Minsk.

Despite vacation season, over a hundred people gathered at the Minsk Jewish community house, hailing from Minsk itself as well as the Borisov and Mogilyov communities. There were many young people and families with children. Almost all of the Jewish organizations of Minsk participated in the preparation of the rally.

During the event, Jewish children of Belarus drew postcards about the Gaza situation for their peers in Israel. Participants of the event also signed a big banner with the flags of Israel and Belarus locked in a big heart.

SBEOOO Chairman Boris Gersten spoke to the community and said that three letters were sent on its behalf to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in support of the policy of the State of Israel. All Belarusian Jewish communities also now host Solidarity Books, which will be signed by various people and then sent to the Israeli Prime Minister. The SBEOOO leader also read Netanyahu’s address to the Jewish communities of the world.

Chairman of the Union of Belarusian Expats Mikhail Olshansky spoke about how “regular citizens of Israel live among the howling of sirens and rocket blasts.” Ambassador of the State of Israel to Belarus Yosef Shagal gave a speech and then answered many questions asked by the rally participants.

The event culminated with a video chat with residents of Haifa and Ashdod. Clips filmed specially for the event were shown.
