New EAJC CEO In Office
29.12.2014, Region The Deputy Secretary General of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, long-term representative of the Congress in Israel, Dr. Haim Ben Yakov (44) assumed the position of Executive Director of the EAJC. He was appointed to this position at the session of the EAJC General Council, held in Jerusalem in early December.
Haim Ben Yakov also holds the post of the Senior Executive for International Development and Public Affairs of the Tel Aviv University (Israel). Не served as Head of the Jewish Agency in Moscow and in the Baltic States, as well as Educational Consultant of the Jewish Agency for Israel. He founded and managed an Institute for Jewish Studies and Training Community Workers in Moscow, and also taught at a number of universities in Israel and other countries.
Meinl's proposal was supported by EAJC presidium members Alexander Baron, Joseph Zissels and Michael Chlenov. Joseph Zissels gave a positive review for Haim Ben Yakov's the professional qualities, as the two had a long and fruitful working relationship.
As the EAJC Secretary General, prof. Michael Chlenov, said: "Haim Ben Yakov’s insider knowledge of the international Jewish institutions and their mechanisms of activity, his long-term successful representation of our Congress in Israel, and, finally, his considerable academic experience is good reason to believe that in his new position he will bring tangible benefits to the EAJC."
