EAJC statement in connection with the exhibition, mocks the Holocaust, in Tartu
11.02.2015, Holocaust The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) with bewilderment learned about the exhibition in Tartu (Estonia), depicting the Holocaust in a humorous vein. The exhibition "My Poland. Remembering and forgetting" in Estonia actually puts the State – a member of the European Union on a par with Iranian radicals, who announced a cartoons competition on the Holocaust.
In a civilized society, the historical tragedy of this magnitude cannot and must not become the subject of public ridicule. It’s especially concerns such an unprecedented crime against humanity, as the Holocaust. Whatever thought the organizers and participants of the exhibition, we are confident that the mockery of the memory of the victims, not heal historical wounds, but, on the contrary, reopen them.
The transformation of tragedy into a farce, is not just a "remembrance" that allows to "forget", it is an attempt to give up the historical memory. EAJC is convinced that in order to avoid a repeat of the tragedy, not only Jews, but all nations must remember the Holocaust. This memory must be imbued with respect for the millions of innocent victims.
