On Sunday, July 26, in Podgorica Yasha Alfandari, President of the Jewish community in Montenegro, member of the EAJC General Council and Slavoljub Stijepovich, Mayor of Podgorica planted a Tree of Friendship on the Gorica hill near the monument to Partisan Fighter.
After that, there was a meeting with Israeli actors who presented a performance "Our Class" based on Tadeusz Slobozhanek’s play at the National Theatre the same evening. This performance is the result of joint work of two Israeli leading creative teams – Chamber Theatre and Habima National Theatre. The play was shown in the framework of the biennial cultural project dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Montenegro and Israel.
According to Yasha Alfandari: "The purpose of the Jewish community in Montenegro is to promote a harmonious multi-ethnic and multi-religious life in the region through cross-cultural collaboration, dissemination and strengthening of tolerance and respect for diversity."
