On September 27, 2015, the delegation of the World Jewish Congress met with the Mayor of Kyiv. The delegation consisted of WJC CEO Robert Singer (USA), WJC Chief Operating Officer, Protocol, Governance & Communications John Malkinson (Belgium), and WJC Executive Office Assistant David Meluskey. WJC Vice Presidents Andrey Adamovsky and Boris Fuchsmann, Jewish Confederation of Ukraine Executive Director Inna Yoffe, as well as the chairman of the General Council of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, Josef Zissels, were also present at the meeting with Kyiv mayor Vitaliy Klitschko. Deputies of the mayor, Bogdan Balasynovich and Alexei Reznikov, were also present at the meeting.

The Kyiv mayor described the complex process of transformation that Kyiv's city hall is undergoing currently, including the introduction of the SmartCity system and a system for electronic budget management. Vitaliy Klitschko stressed that Kyiv's authority pay careful attention to any requests made by the Jewish community and provide it with any and all possible aid.

Robert Singer proposed that cooperation on commemorative events for the 75th anniversary of the Babiy Yar tragedy as well as on the further preservation and development of the site itself begin as soon as possible. Vitaliy Klitschko noted that the Kyiv City Hall is ready to support the memorial events as much as possible.

The WJC delegation's visit to Ukraine was prepared by the EAJC Kyiv office.
