A veteran of Israeli politics, a retired Brigadier General Binyamin (Fuad) Ben-Eliezer passed away in Tel Aviv at the age of 80. In different years he headed ministries of Defense, Construction, Communication, Industry, Trade and Labor and National Infrastructure. In 2001-2001 he served as "Avoda" party leader.
Fuad was a good friend of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, with genuine attention he treated EAJC programs in Israel, willingly responded to Congress requests for assistance.
The EAJC leadership and staff express deep condolences to the relatives of the deceased. The memory of Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, a soldier and politics, who served all his life to the Jewish state, will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
