On November 10, the Political/Economic Officer of the Almaty Consulate General Timothy O’Connor visited the Mitzvah Association office. Mr. O’Connor met with the leader of the Jewish community of Kazakhstan, member of the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan and the Presidium of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Alexander Baron.

The Economic Officer also visited the Rimon community center, where he met with its director, Inessa Chugainova.

The guest of honor also visited the Moris Simashko Republican Jewish library and was presented with a selection of books printed by the community, including the results of a large-scale scholarly project, the International Historical Conference. The International Historical Conference has printed collected papers on the refugees and evacuation process in World War II and the history of the Jews of Central Asia and Western Siberia. 

Alexander Baron spoke about Mitzvah’s charity programs and international projects, and invited Mr. O’Connor to work together to mutual advantage.
