EAJC Analytics program head acts as OSCE expert
06.06.2017 On May 24, a panel discussion on how civil society can prevent and counteract hate crime in Ukraine took place in Kyiv. The event was organized by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights as part of their project “Turning Words into Action to Address Anti-Semitism.” The event gathered leaders and activists from religious and other civil organizations, as well as representatives of government bodies.
Vyacheslav Likhachev, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Analytics program head, was invited by the OSCE to give the keynote speech for the panel. Using materials that the scholar has collected over 10 years of consecutive monitoring, Likhachev showcased the dynamics of hate crime in Ukraine, with particular focus on antisemitism. Other topics were also discussed alongside hate crime, particularly interfaith tolerance, education, and the media.
