June 9, Moscow. EAJC Secretary General Michael Chlenov met with the president of the Zionist Federation of Bulgaria Victor Melamed, who visited Moscow on a working visit. Zionist Federation is part of a unified Jewish community in Bulgaria and part of the EAJC.

Natalia Schmidt, EAJC CEO, Roman Spektor, Head of the EAJC PR Department, Alexey Karpov, EAJC Secretary General Assistant participated in the meeting. The sides exchanged information on the current activities of the organizations. The upcoming trip to the Balkans of the EAJC delegation and the participation of a number of Jewish communities in the Balkans in EAJC work were discussed at the meeting.

As Mikhail Chlenov noted: "We have long-standing friendships with the Jewish community in Bulgaria and its component structures, in particular, the Zionist Federation. Bulgarian Jews are represented in the EAJC General Council. The composition of the Congress includes a number of communities of the Balkan countries; several Balkan communities intend to join us. The planned trip of the Congress leadership will, in particular, devoted to more detailed familiarity with these communities. Thus, we have an impressive list of Jewish communities of the Balkan states, and we look forward to a long and fruitful cooperation."
